SOFA at the Private Security Conference 2026

Last week, our Founder and Executive Director, Stephen Udachinojo Omatule, alongside other delegates from Stephen Omatule Foundation Africa (SOFA), actively participated in the NPSC Private Security Conference 2026 held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.

The high-level gathering brought together top security experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss partnership, innovation, and the building of a modern security ecosystem in Nigeria.A key insight we took away is the undeniable link between climate change and insecurity. Climate-induced challenges such as desertification, flooding, resource scarcity, and farmer-herder conflicts are increasingly becoming major drivers of insecurity across Nigeria and Africa.

When communities lose their means of livelihood due to environmental degradation, it creates conditions for unrest, displacement, and conflict. At SOFA, we firmly believe that addressing climate change is not only an environmental necessity but also a critical security imperative. Our work in climate justice, youth empowerment, and community resilience directly contributes to reducing these tensions by promoting sustainable solutions and building stronger, more adaptive communities.

We remain committed to holistic approaches that tackle both environmental sustainability and human security for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria. Thank you to the organizers for this impactful convening.
